University of London
To replace 200 existing bed bases in the students’ residences with heavy use alternatives and to incorporate a roll-out guest bed which could be secured when not in use.
To make the most of the limited space in the hall of residence rooms, we were commissioned to come up with a workable bed design — and to manufacture, deliver and install every unit in the limited downtime in the summer holidays.
Our crafted solution
We worked closely with the client prior to the end of the summer term, 2014, to carry out all pre-planning and design work over a period of 12 weeks.
Research and development was undertaken in our design and production departments. Samples and options were presented to the client.
We created bespoke cabin beds and mattresses, with a pull-out bed below.
We worked extremely fast, turning around the implementation within seven working days, resulting in successful installation of approved replacements all to budget and to contractor programme before the new foreign exchange students arrived.
